How are gamma-ray burst radio afterglows populated?

چکیده

We systematically analyze three GRB samples named as radio-loud, radio-quiet and radio-none afterglows, respectively. It is shown that dichotomy of the radio-loud afterglows not necessary. Interestingly, we find intrinsic durations ($T_{int}$), isotropic energies prompt gamma-rays ($E_{\gamma, iso}$) redshifts ($z$) their host galaxies are log-normally distributed for both except those GRBs without any radio detections. Based on distinct distributions $T_{int}$, $E_{\gamma, iso}$, circum-burst medium density ($n$) equivalent energy ($L_{\nu,p}$), confirm really better to be divided into dim bright types. However, it noticeable flux densities ($F_{host}$) from classes intrinsically quite similar. Meanwhile, point out sample also obviously different above two with observed, according cumulative frequency $T_{int}$ together correlations between $z$. In addition, a positive correlation iso}$ $L_{\nu,p}$ found in especially supernova-associated GRBs. Besides, this sample. A negative $z$ confirmed hold too. The dividing line short long rest frame at $T_{int}\simeq$1 s. Consequently, propose could originated progenitors.

Radio scintillation of gamma-ray-burst afterglows ?

Stars twinkle to the eye through atmospheric turbulence, but planets, because of their larger angular size, do not. Similarly, scintillation due to the local interstellar medium will modulate the radio flux of gamma-ray-burst afterglows and may permit indirect measurements of their angular sizes. The amplitude of refractive scintillation is of order ten percent at ten gigahertz unless the sourc...

Gamma-Ray Burst Afterglows

Extended, fading emissions in multi-wavelength are observed following Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). Recent broadband observational campaigns led by the Swift Observatory reveal rich features of these GRB afterglows. Here we review the latest observational progress and discuss the theoretical implications for understanding the central engine, composition, and geometric configuration of GRB jets, as w...

Gamma-Ray Burst Early Afterglows

The successful launch and operation of NASA’s Swift Gamma-Ray Burst Explorer open a new era for the multi-wavelength study of the very early afterglow phase of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). GRB early afterglow information is essential to explore the unknown physical composition of GRB jets, the link between the prompt γ-ray emission and the afterglow emission, the GRB central engine activity, as wel...

Pulsed Gamma-Ray-Burst Afterglows

The bipolarity of Supernova 1987A can be understood in terms of its very early light curve as observed from the CTIO 0.4-m telescope, as well as the IUE FES, and the slightly later speckle observations of the “Mystery Spot” by two groups. These observations imply a highly directional beam of light and jet of particles, with initial collimation factors in excess of 104, velocities in excess of 0...

Gamma-Ray Burst afterglows: theory and observations

I discuss some theoretical expectations for the synchrotron emission from a relativistic blast-wave interacting with the ambient medium, as a model for GRB afterglows, and compare them with observations. An afterglow flux evolving as a power-law in time, a bright optical flash during and after the burst, and light-curve breaks owing to a tight ejecta collimation are the major predictions that w...
